You know how much I love my tropical and exotic fruits!! Dragonfruit, aka pitaya are FULL of so many health benefits! It’s rich in proteins, fiber, lycopene and carbs (good ones!). Also, there are omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids in the seeds of these babies. That means, GOOD fats ? Here are some other fun facts: – ? – – – if you are anemic (ME??‍♀️), dragonfruit has high levels of iron which boost hemoglobin levels and aids in production of red blood cells – – If you suffer from type 2 diabetes, dragonfruit has been shown to help control glucose levels. – – – Dragonfruit is full of flavonoid antioxidants which help prevent inflammation, arthritis, gout, cancer, etc.. – – – 100g of dragonfruit contains about 2g of protein and a slew of other vitamins and minerals like potassium, magnesium, zinc and phosphorous. – – What does it taste like? Not much, actually. It doesn’t have a strong taste, smell or flavor… but it can be mildly sweet. Which is why it’s a perfect addition to just about anything + all those health benefits just make it that much more appealing to me! Favorite ways to eat dragonfruit – ? – – – – on top of yogurt and granola • – – In a smoothie • – – Dragonfruit sorbet (I’ll post a recipe soon!) • – – Just slice one in half and eat with a spoon ?

Excuses will always be there for you. – Opportunity won’t.

If you desire a glorious future, transform the present. There is actually no other choice. If you want things to be different than your current situation, it starts with YOU making a change NOW to make room for those desires. – The scarier the changes, the better for your growth and success. It’s important to stop letting fear control your decisions. Let your love, your passion or your excitement control your decisions. And make the changes NOW, that will coincide with the future you desire. Practice habits that are indicative of someone who’s in the situation you desire. If you want to run a marathon one day, start with a jog tomorrow. If you want to run your own company one day, start putting in 10, 12, 14 hour days now. If you want to be able to do the splits, you just start stretching every day. Manifestation starts with the small steps toward the right direction TODAY ?

What is this crazy thing called life? – it’s complicated, that’s one thing I know! But what would it be if it were just simple and easy? If there were no challenges, no lessons to learn, no heartbreak to make you stronger? That’s the stuff I think reminds us we are ALIVE. That this life is short. But full of so many opportunities to dive in deep, soak it up, fill your cup!!! – There is room, everyday, for growth. And when you hone in on this and become mindful of those internal goals, you feel a different sense of pride in who you are. It all comes down to loving yourself. A lot of people are uncomfortable with it but loving yourself enough to want to examine and dissect yourself. But loving yourself enough to be okay with what you find. Every single day is an opportunity to grow and become better. And let the world feel your magic. Give the best possible version of you. It’s in there. And it’s your duty every day to let the world have it. But you don’t find the best version of you without digging really, really deep. ?

Just a girl in her happy place ??? – – Many of you know I recently developed my yoga practice in the last two years. And I often talk about how much it’s helped me become a better version of myself. – Am I perfect? Hell no! Do I practice what I preach 100% of the time? No – again, not perfect. But I do my best to stay mindful and stay present and my yoga practice has facilitated that for me more and more. – Also, keeping this sort of ‘public journal’ holds me accountable and allows me to go back and be reminded of things I’ve told myself in the past. – We are emotional beings, so i don’t think I’ll ever be perfect at handling everything in a zen way all the time. But – in my opinion the important thing is to recognize where you have room for growth, give it attention, and do the work internally every day to improve and evolve. So with each day, you can say “Today’s version of me is better than yesterday’s.”

I wanna know what you think about being the brunt of things. I’m sure we have all experienced being the brunt of a joke at some point… but it goes further sometimes. – How about being the brunt of other people’s problems? Have you ever felt like a friend or significant other, attacked you or lashed out at you for no apparent reason? This would make you the ‘brunt’ of their problems… even though you did nothing at all. It’s one thing to vent to a friend, but have you ever just felt like you were someone’s emotional punching bag? – In my opinion, it always goes back to what that person is feeling internally. Most of the time, attacks or lashing out is just a symptom of that person feeling inadequate, insecure, etc…. or they are just coming from a place of ego and need to puff their chest or show off for some reason. Again, goes back to insecurity. And you become the target so they can project their feelings and draw the attention anywhere but their appalling behavior… not taking responsibility or acknowledging that this is all coming from their own negative feelings, and that they essentially mistreat people. So, when this happens all you should do is remember this: Remember that everything showing on the outside is evidence of what’s on the inside of that person. You are good. And your intentions are good. You have done nothing wrong. And you don’t deserve to be disrespected because of someone else’s problems. So you can take the high road. And wish them well. And just remove yourself from any situation encountering them until they can heal themselves. And maybe they never do. But it doesn’t have to affect you. And you don’t have to allow their problems to become yours. Don’t let anger get to you bc they falsely feel justified to treat you badly. They are just lost and coming from a place of ego, not seeing clearly. Just wish them well. And maintain your peace. And move on.

Never bend over backwards to explain yourself or seek acceptance from someone. No one else knows your path. You may make choices that NO ONE else in your life can understand. Don’t let that alter your decisions or make you waver from realizing your dreams. You are the only one who has to walk your path. So looking for others’ approval is absolutely pointless!! You may have a vision they are unable to see. That doesn’t lower the value of your vision. They don’t have to live in your shoes. You do. No one can have more faith in you than you. Stay true to YOURSELF. Your dreams are precious. – – And remember, they don’t have to understand, in order to love you. – – – – – #backbend #wheelpose #grateful #yoga #yogi #chooseyourpath #motivation #inspiration #yogaeverydamnday

HAPPY SUNDAY to all you magical humans!! I started off this morning with one of my favorite quotes I’d like to share with you — – Be daring, be fearless, and don’t be afraid that somebody is going to criticize you or laugh at you. If your ego is not involved, no one can hurt you. – mahala punateer — – The more often you consciously abandon your ego… the more often you will find peace. The ego is connected to all of our fear based thoughts. It is our ego that tries to force us to ‘protect’ ourselves from pain or negative feelings. It is our ego that makes us see things from a place of fear, instead of a place of love. So, today… and each day… try your best to consciously place your ego aside. – On this beautiful Sunday… I am so happy the rain cleared up just enough for me to practice outdoors!! Wishing you all well!! xoxo – – – – – – #yoga #yogi #crowpose #yogalife #yogalover #yogaeverydamnday #yogainspiration

Balance is not something you find, It’s something you create ?

For me, feeling good about my body has always started from the inside FIRST. Once I got serious about the things I put in my body, that’s when I really started to be accepting and happy with it. Because I knew it was a healthy and strong body and that’s what matters most to me. The shape it started to take on, from being so healthy and thriving from nutritious foods, is just a super awesome added bonus!!! ? • • I didn’t always love my body. I have always been super petite and skinny and was made fun of A LOT for looking ‘emaciated’ or like I had an eating disorder according to some ‘friends.’ Or that I had chicken legs or looked like a twig. (I am 5’4” and weighed 87lbs all through high school, not by choice) • • I don’t think a lot of people consider that body shaming happens to people of all shapes and sizes. And it isn’t okay. • • Like I said, for me, the most important thing was to be able to love my body starting with the inside, feeling confident that I give my body the proper tools to thrive and perform at its best. That makes me forget about any certain physical aspects, and just makes me appreciate that my body gives me the chance to enjoy the things I do, because it is strong and healthy. I love my body so much for all the cool things it lets me do and experience!! I have a yoga practice that i love so much! And i wouldn’t be able to have anything, really, without this awesome body, chicken legs and all, to carry me through it. ?✨ #bodylove #selflove

C U T I E S ??? aka clementines •• Another easy way to eat your hydration in the summer time!! And they have so many more benefits, which of course I'm going to tell you about! Since they're like mini oranges, the obvious one is Vitamin C! Just one of these little babies is 60% of your daily value. One of the biggest benefits of clementines is that they are a low carbohydrate fruit, meaning they won’t spike your glycemic index. And they actually taste sweeter than oranges, but are LOWER in sugar! This one I actually didn't know until I looked it up… but they do contain protein! Not a huge amount… about 1 gram, but hey! Even better for me and my gains ? They're also high in potassium which is essential for healthy blood pressure, healthy joints, your arteries, and it helps battle bloating. And let's not forget about that lovely antioxidant that makes them orange… Beta-carotene (Vitamin A) which does wonders for your eyes, skin, and heart. Thank you, cuties! ?✌️

✨ "She was stronger than all of the words that were intended to break her" ✨ • • Since negativity, insults and judgement are so prevalent in this wonderful digital/social media driven society… I just want to take a moment to remind you that what people say about you DOES NOT define you. Rise above. Block that sh*t out of your life… wherever the negativity is coming from. BYE bish!!! It's so easy for trolls to try and terrorize someone's self esteem from behind a keyboard; hell some people even find it easy to do so face to face… but you don't have to LET them. Because they're wrong. >>> YOU. ARE. ENOUGH. You don't need their validation or approval. Love yourself, be kind, be grateful, and the rest will fall into place. ? Creative + editorial geniuses @cheriecarlsonphotography + @beautybydiemvo made this strong and beautiful shot possible. I couldn't feel more privileged to work with these amazing and talented ladies. Like is that even me!?! They killllled this look… all I did was sit there and stare into the light.. ??

Since I'm so awesomely boring tonight, I figured now is the perfect time to share this "Non Fitness Related 10 Things About Me" — tagged by my girl @samanthakozuch, so here goes: • ? I am originally from Maryland. Born and raised in a super tiny little town. In 2010, I drove across the country with a gf and moved to OC, CA. • ? I have my own photography business. I shoot everything from newborn photos, to food, to yoga. My website is www.corissafurr.photo (which so needs to be updated ?) • ? I am allergic to shrimp, lobster, salmon, calamari… and who knows what other kind of seafood. Not life threatening but it's hives and rashes and it's not fun + I'm not happy about it. ? The hand I was dealt I guess ??‍♀️ • ? I LOVE to garden!! Matter of fact, all this rain we've been having is so perfect… I honestly can't WAIT to get my seeds planted for an early season. ? Both my parents have green thumbs + I grew up gardening which I am so grateful for! • ? Penguins are my favorite animal. It may not come as much of a surprise to a lot of you. ? • ? I'm a Ms. Fix It / DIY kind of girl. I find things like building furniture, painting, etc… to be therapeutic. ?? • ? My Dad lives on the big island of Hawaii, near the active volcano + lava flows. My soul is so attracted to Hawaii and the islands, I cannot wait to go back soon and lose myself in all the beauty! • ? I am engaged to an amazing man, @parilloboxing, who is an incredible boxing coach to many of the top world champions and Hall of Famers in the UFC. He is one of the most respected coaches in his industry, and I'm so proud of him! • ? I can't get through life without chocolate. Dark chocolate to be exact. I often make my own with @philosophielove Cacao Magic for homemade superfood chocolate yummm ? • ? My diet is not anything specific or special. I'm not vegan, or vegetarian, pescatarian or paleo or any of these strict, specific things. I believe in balance. The stress alone of worrying about a strict diet, and hating yourself for eating that cookie..? Is WORSE than just eating the cookie and being okay with it.
